EMS Units Equipping Ambulances with Sensory Box
This week, the Bellmawr Fire Department’s Division of EMS units started equipping each of its ambulances with a “sensory box” to assist in the treatment of those with autism.
There has been an increase in the number of responses to individuals on the autism spectrum.
Items included in the boxes, have texture, help to non-verbally communicate or are visually relaxing.
These items will let patients better communicate and help them calm down.
It’s just another tool at our disposal to ensure we are providing the best care we can for all of our patients.
The boxes can also be used for children that may be upset during a routine call.
